The family of Mr. Wayne Caruso, age 68, are deeply saddened to announce his passing on Friday May 19, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospice after a courageous 8 year battle with cancer. Wayne passed away peacefully with family by his side.

Wayne was born April 2, 1949 in Thunder Bay, Ontario to parents Daphne and Dominic Caruso. He met the love of his life, Anne, in 1972 and they married shortly after on September 7, 1973. Together they raised 3 boys.

As a young man, he was the President of the youth club at St. Agnes Church, setting up and running many activities with Brother Robbie. He then became a long time devout member of St. Dominic’s church. This also led him to becoming a Eucharistic Minister within the church.

Wayne spent 21 years working for Acklands-Grainger where he was very well respected and liked by all he met.

Outside of work, Wayne also enjoyed many hobbies and favourite past times. He was an avid photographer, always making the boys and family pose for pictures. He often would take the boys out camping and fishing, making memories they will cherish forever. Wayne was also a huge movie buff. Every Friday would be movie and popcorn night, a tradition that was equally enjoyed by his mother Daphne.

After retiring, Wayne continued to enjoy taking pictures; going for early morning drives and hikes with his friends to get the best shot. He also appreciated his outings with his old friends for coffee and lunches. In more recent years he thoroughly adored spending quality time with his grandchildren.

Wayne is predeceased by his mother Daphne, father Dominic, brother Micheal Lavoie, uncle Tony Lamb and sister in law Rhia Caruso. Also by mother and father-in-law Dirk and Teresa Vis, Cathy Boer, Amy Garton, Gary Ogilvie, Micheal Bewski, and Teresa Vis.

Wayne is survived by his wife Anne, sons Donald (Tammy), Raymond (Carolyn), Ryan (Erin) and grandchildren Dale, Casey, Clara and Colin, brothers Raymond, David (Nancy) Caruso, brother and sister In-laws Sandra Lavoie, Jake Boer, Allan (Joan) Vis, Teeny (John) Templeman, Barry Garton, Audrey (Okko) Jonker, Jim (Linda)Vis, Alice Ogilvie, Andy (Alice) Vis, Audrey (Joe) Kompon, Steve (Bonnie) Vis, Rick (Joyce) Vis, Janet Bewski (Davey). Also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

There will be a funeral service on Friday May 26, 2017, at St. Dominic’s Church, at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will take place after the funeral service. There will be a gathering at the church right after the service with the family returning after the interment.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation and/or St. Vincent De Paul Society Food Bank would be greatly appreciated by the family
