It is with profound sadness to announce that Wayne Hacquoil lost his battle with cancer on May 16, 2024.

Wayne was the first child born to parents Frances and Andrew Hacquoil in Fort William and remained a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay.

After graduating from PACI he began a 47 year career in the insurance business, starting at Willport Realty on Van Norman Street, retiring from Lifestyle Insurance where he was a partner with Bruce MacDonald, Gary Gratzki and Norm Green.

Wayne volunteered at numerous events, the latest being in charge of the VIP tent at the Blues Festival, something he thoroughly enjoyed.

Wayne was a kind, generous, caring man. Whenever anyone needed help Wayne, was quick to lend a hand. Annual golfing trips with the guys were his summer highlights. These were occasionally coordinated with sprint car races.

The best highlight of his life occurred in Birds Restaurant when a friend introduced Wayne to a young girl named Irene McClelland. Wayne and Irene would have celebrated their fiftieth anniversary in June.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, in-laws Florence and Jack McClelland and brothers-in-law Mike Davis, Ron Wingrove and John McClelland.

Wayne is lovingly remembered by and dearly missed by his wife Irene, brother Andrew (Karen) and sisters Geraldine Hacquoil, Wendy Davis and Andrea (Jim) Steinberg as well as nieces Monica Davis Emma Maa-Hacquoil, nephews Henry Maa-Hacquoil, Gordon & Wyatt Steinberg as well as numerous relatives.

Funeral services for Wayne Hacquoil will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on S. Archibald Street.

Those wishing to attend the services virtually may do so at the Sargent and Son Facebook page. In lieu of flowers donations to the Northern Cancer Fund in Wayne’s name would be appreciated.
