August 6th 2022 we lost longtime Terrace Bay resident Wayne John Young at the age of 85. Wayne was born in London Ontario and raised in Kapuskasing and moved to Terrace Bay in 1951. He attended school in Kapuskasing, Terrace Bay and Albert College in Bellville Ontario. Wayne began his career with Kimberly Clark in 1956, becoming a licensed Electrician by 1960, eventually retiring after 46 years of service. An avid outdoorsman ,Wayne loved time spent at his camp at Whitesand Lake. He loved woodworking, reupholstering and especially a good chat.
Wayne will be lovingly missed by his Son Don Young (Laura-Lea)of Thunder Bay, Daughter Karen Young (Stacey Zealand) of Oshawa, Granddaughters Sarah Roberts (Joshua)of Mooretown, Valerie Hiebert(Bowmanville),Kristen Hiebert(Mathew Bissonette) of Oshawa, Grandson Adam Madge (Breann Berezowski) of Thunder Bay, Brother Bruce Young (Barbara) of Wasaga Beach Brother in-law Richard Brearley (Donna Dakin) of Terrace Bay, Sister in- law Donna Klieman (Gerry) of London. Grumpy will be missed by his Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends.
We would like to thank Sarah Roberts and Richard Brearley for walking beside Dad throughout this journey. The family would like to thank Barb and Bob Hopper for all your kindness over the years. To Sue Fairservice and the nurses at McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay thank you for your care of Dad and guidance. The entire team at Roseview Manor in Thunder Bay your care will always be remembered and appreciated. A special gratitude to Zoe St Amand you are a gem, to Lorraine your affection and dedication will forever be fondly remembered, Cherlyn thank you for all you have done we appreciate it more than words. To Patrick and Tanner your dedication to Dads care and your commitment to us was outstanding.
Predeceased by the love of his life, his wife and life partner Barbara Joan Young (Brearley), parents Ted and Tina Young, Father and Mother in-laws Don and Grace Brearley.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life at the Seniors Center in the Michael King Hall from 11 to 2 pm on August 31st 2022 at in Terrace Bay. Internment at the Terrace Bay Cemetery to follow.
