Wendy Joan Mace passed away on April 30th 2022 at 81 years of age. She passed peacefully overnight in her home in Fort William following a long battle with dementia.

Wendy is survived by her devoted husband, Louis Otto, who was by her side until the end. She is also survived by her children Josh (Nicole), Joni (Toune), Robert (Michelle), and her grandchildren Katie, Emily, Adam and Victoria.

Wendy loved Thunder Bay, and grew up in Fort William with parents John and Gladys Irving. She attended high school at Fort William Collegiate, and later graduated from Confederation College and Lakehead University working as a nurse at McKellar hospital for over 25 years.

On retirement Wendy could be found every year volunteering at Christmas Cheer. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved to travel, going on many cruises over the years. She also often enjoyed “making a run for the border” to the casino.

Anyone who knew Wendy knows that her personality was larger than life. She was smart and generous, and despite her illness she never stopped directing peoples‘ lives (especially Louis’). Her involvement in the lives of those around her will be missed.

Cremation will take place with a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
