Mr. Willem (Bill) Van Ginkel, aged 83 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the TBRHSC. Bill was born in The Netherlands on February 27, 1934. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1949.

Bill’s long working career included Cummins, Techni – Cool, Ditmar Enterprises, Bobcat Services and Miller Precast among others. Bill was a doer and never sat idle long. He was known for his exceptional work ethics and ability to get the job done.

In his leisure time, Bill was an avid bowler which he enjoyed for many years. He was also a big race fan. Attending many races over the years, but especially looked forward to going to Cedar Lake Speedway. In recent years Bill developed the urge to travel. He thoroughly enjoyed his many Cruise Ship adventures that took him all over the world.

Bill is survived by his son Al (Terri), granddaughters Jordana and Tori; daughter Diane (David), grandsons Alexander, Bruce and Geoffrey; sister Coby Fieten; brother Marinus (Geraldine) and families and numerous other relatives. Predeceased by his parents Guert and Nelia, brother Gerald and brother-in-law Bernie Fieten.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 when family and friends will gather for the interment to take place at 10:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in Hope Christian Reformed Church, 1315 Crawford Avenue, with Pastor Robert Hoekstra officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in Hope Christian Reformed Church. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association, The Hope Christian Reformed Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
