Mr. William "Bill" Babiak, age 89 years, a long-time resident of Robert Andras Court passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Monday, May 16, 2011.
Bill was born in Port Arthur on November 19, 1921 to Paul and Dora Babiak and was a lifetime resident. Bill attended St. Joseph's School and then started his working career at an early age. He had various jobs prior to starting his 40 year career as a bartender which began at the Lakeland, the Labour Centre and finally the Italian Centennial Hall until his retirement.
Bill is survived by his nephews and nieces David (Shirley) Graba, Joe (Kathy) Babiak, Gayle (Michael) Poluyko, Irene Salerno and Lorraine Gibson, dear friend Larry Kurec as well as by numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by Victoria "Vicky" ( August 2008) his wife of nearly 60 years, parents Paul and Dora, brother John, and sisters Pauline Graba and Josephine Loos.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 when family and friends will gather in St. Andrew's R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini.
The interment will follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery. The Vigil Service will be offered Wednesday (this evening) at 5:00 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street. In lieu of flowers memorials to the TBRHSC - Prostate Fund would be appreciated.
