William passed away peacefully at home on April 6, 2018, just a few days short of his 90th birthday.

Born in Fleetwood, England on April 17, 1928 he moved at a young age to Peterhead, Scotland where he served a five-year shipbuilders apprenticeship. At the age of 21 work would bring him to Aberdeen, Scotland where he served as a loftsman for the Hall Russell Shipyards.

This is where he would meet the love of his life, Dorothy. They wed in 1954 and just recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary.

In 1961 Bill, Dorothy and their young son Michael would emigrate to Canada to be closer to family. Now living in Thunder Bay, Bill worked for the Lakehead Board of Education as the Superintendent of Maintenance. He retired in 1990 and after a few years decided to move to North Bay to be close to Michael and his wife Ruth.

Bill and Dorothy would travel back to Scotland many times as it was still their real home. They also enjoyed travelling to Thunder Bay, Victoria and Williams Lake to visit family.

In his younger days, Bill was an avid soccer player and drummer in a pipe band. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, but most of all he enjoyed helping people with his carpentry skills. There was no repair or project that he could not find a solution for.

Bill will be missed by his wife Dorothy, his son Michael and loving daughter in law Ruth. He is also survived by sisters in law Georgina Masson of Thunder Bay, Marjory Simister of Williams Lake and their families.

At the request of the family there will be no services or visitation. Arrangements are in the care of Hillside Funeral Services. Bill was always fascinated with how clever all animals, domestic and wild, are and as such donations to the North Bay Humane Society are appreciated.
