Mr. William “Bill” Johnston, age 67 years, passed away suddenly after struggling with health issues on the morning of November 19, 2018 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Bill was born on December 8, 1950 in Port Arthur, Ontario. He loved spending time with his family on his property in Rainy River, fishing, hunting, and after retirement, spent every waking moment thinking about what he was going to do to improve his property to spend his golden years there. Bill started out with Ontario Hydro in 1969 with their construction crew building substations throughout the region. He later moved within the utility to become an electrical inspector and eventually as the Northwestern Ontario Senior Electrical Inspector for the Electrical Safety Authority. Before retirement, Bill had established himself as the inspector for Northern Communities and took great joy in his legacy with the company. His quick and sarcastic wit drew people close to him in many circles whether it was personal or professional.

Bill will be sadly missed and remembered by his wife of 45 years, Janet (nee Wilen); his three boys, Bryan (Erin), Stephen (Kim), and Craig (Cassie) from New Pekin, Indiana; his mother Audrey; and brother Bob (Suzanne) from Victoria, BC. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Kaleb Stimson, Emma, Sophie, Juniper, and Isaac; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father Thomas, grandparents Corby and Nell Wilson, and his uncle Jack Wilson.

As per Bill’s wishes, we will be remembering him privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the TBRHSC - Northern Cardiac Fund.
