Syroid William new
It is with deep sorrow and sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather William (Billy) Syroid, on Sunday February 4 2018, at the young age of 73. Billy was born in Fort William to Mary and John Syroid on September 28, 1944.  He met and married the love of his life Linda (nee Waugh) and they were married for over 48 years.

Throughout his life you could find Billy at different race tracks in the United States.  He also enjoyed sprint car racing at Knoxville, Iowa.  Other activities he enjoyed were fishing, curling and golfing. He worked for over 40 years at Macdonalds Consolidated as a sales rep and made friends and acquaintances throughout those years. Following his retirement, you would see him walking in different areas of the city daily.  He and Linda enjoyed travelling to Arizona and made many friends on their travels.

Billy will be greatly missed by his wife Linda, son Gary (Christine), daughter Michelle (Kevin Muller) and his three precious granddaughters Sarah (Austin Baxter), Emily, and Alanna, his brother Donald (Debbie), brother-in-law Jim (Boots) Waugh (Janice), sisters-in-law Gail Balina (Peter), Brenda Bortolin, Barbara McLaren (John) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Syroid, brother Eugene, sister Janet Pethick, and brothers-in-law Carl Pethick and Frank Bortolin.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 11:00am, at St. Patrick's Cathedral celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. Services will be complete in the church. Visitation will take place Wednesday February 7, 2018 in the Blake Funeral Chapel starting at 6:00 pm with prayers to be offered at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations maybe made in Billy's name to the charity of their choice.
