It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Mr. William McFarlane, age 85 years, resident of Gorham, ON, at the TBRHSC with family by his side on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Born on April 23, 1938 in New Rochelle, NY, William was raised and educated in Alexandria, Scotland. He later attended Commercial and Technical College in Thunder Bay, ON. He was employed with the City of Thunder Bay, eventually working his way up to manager and after 25 years of service he retired in 1993. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and was an active member of the CUPE union for many years. The last years of his life were spent enjoying the company of his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also caring for his son, Clyde. He will always be in our hearts and forever remembered.

William is survived by his loving sister, Janet Hutchison; his children, James, Pamela, Craig and Tom; loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Predeceased recently, by his son, Clyde; sister, Ann Duncan; and parents, James and Isabel (nee McGowan).

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 5:30pm at the Royal Canadian Slovak Legion – 801 Atlantic Ave, Thunder Bay.

If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Research Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or War Amps would be greatly appreciated.
