William was born August 28, 1947 in Port Arthur to Robert and Helen Holmquist. He was the oldest of 4 children. He started working for the UGG grain elevator when he was a teenager and continued there until his retirement. Over the years working there he got the nicknames “cutie” and “butch”.
He loved to be around family and friends and had a passion for gardening. He would often be found outside tinkering in his garden. People would always say he had a green thumb. He had a love for pickles and making them which was passed down to all his children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. His famous pickle theory was “feed them to the babies and they will walk”.
William was a gentle, kind, respectful and generous person, who was always happy and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He loved the company of friends and neighbours who became family.
He will be forever missed by his children, Sharon (Allan), Robb (Robynn), Billy-Joe (Jen), Chad, Crystal (Henry) and Jessica; his grandchildren, Stephanie (Ryan), Sarah (Mike), Shawn (Courtney), Kendra, Kayla, Danielle (Dillon), Jeremy, Adam, Aiden, Phoenix, Ashton, Lex, Addison and Noah; his great grandchildren, Kaleb, Hayden and Kinsley; his siblings, Linda (John), Tommy and Gary (Denise); as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Helen Holmquist; grandparents Robert and Annie Holmquist and William and Josephine Paskaluk; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
At William’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of William’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
