It is with great sadness that the family of William Szekely announces his peaceful passing at St. Joseph's Hospital, on Thursday April 6, 2017, at the age of 65.

He was born on February 27th, 1952 in Fort William.  William attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School, St. Patrick High School, and Selkirk Vocational Institute and Vocational Institute, and completed the Business Program at Lakehead University.

He worked at the Thunder Bay District Correctional Facility for ten years, following which he owned and managed Westfort Lanes Bowling Alley and Bar, until his retirement in 2008.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and the outdoors; and in his later years, he enjoyed learning woodworking.  He especially enjoyed travelling abroad and spending winters in Florida.

He was predeceased by his parents Julius and Madeline, his grandparents George and Mary Lukacs, uncle Andrew Lukacs, as well as other relatives in Canada and Hungary.  He will be greatly missed by his sister Madeline.

Thanks to Dr. Toppin and his staff, to the Doctors and Staff at the T.B.R.H.S.C. and to the Doctors and Staff at St. Joseph 's Hospice. A very special thanks to Dr. Henderson for all his efforts on William's behalf.

Funeral mass will take place on Tuesday April 11, 2017, at St. Patrick's Cathedral, at 2:00 pm celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla, V.G., with visitation one hour prior.  A reception will follow.  Private interment of the ashes will take place at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum at a later date.  Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Northern Cancer Fund, T.B.R.H.S. Foundation.
