It is with great sadness the family of Yvan Gabriel Boilard announces his passing at St. Joseph’s Hospice on February 27, 2018, at the age of 50.

Yvan was born in Geraldton at the District Hospital on September 30, 1967. He graduated from Geraldton Composite High School where he enjoyed playing hockey. Yvan moved to Thunder Bay in 1990, then relocated west in 2004 where he stayed until he returned to Thunder Bay in 2012. Spending time with family, especially his four nephews, was one of his greatest enjoyments.

Later in life he enjoyed the tranquility of hiking at the Cascades, cycling and the peacefulness at Kakabeka Falls. He is predeceased by father, Claude Boilard. He is survived by his Mother, Cecile Boilard; brother Gilles (Debbi) Boilard; sister Guytane (Alvin) Haukeness; his nephews Tyler, Eric, Arynn, Luke; step-niece Taylor and great niece Aaliya. Many thanks to staff at the Thunder Bay Regional Cancer Centre, Dr. Faghih and Dr. Ramchandar.

A special thank you to Dr. Migay and the nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, 4th floor, for their exceptional care including Mandy Byerley, Social Worker and nurses Theresa and Lily whose compassion and patience served as a great comfort to the family.

A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Care Group Hospice or the Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated.
