Blue Jays acquire Refsnyder from Yankees for minor league prospect McBroom

TORONTO — Utility player Rob Refsnyder was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon in a trade with the New York Yankees.

First baseman Ryan McBroom was sent to New York in return.

Designated for assignment on Wednesday, the 26-year-old Refsnyder appeared in 94 games over three seasons with the Yankees, hitting .241 with two home runs and 17 RBIs. He played first base, second base, left field and right field.

He will report to triple-A Buffalo.

McBroom, 25, hasn't played a game in the majors yet. He is hitting .243 with 12 home runs in 96 games with double-A New Hampshire this season. He was assigned to double-A Trenton.
