COBOURG, Ont. — Spencer Roberts had two goals and an assist to lead the Cobourg Cougars over the Cobras de Terrebonne 6-1 on Tuesday night in preliminary round play at the RBC Cup.
Theo Lewis also scored twice for Cobourg, which earned a spot in Saturday's semifinals with the victory. Jesse Baird and Josh Maguire added the others.
Eric Leger replied on the power play for Terrebonne.
Stefano Durante made 24 saves for the win in net as Jeremy Belisle kicked out 29 shots in defeat.
Earlier Tuesday, Mitch Benson made 23 saves as the Brooks Bandits shut out the Trenton Golden Hakws 8-0 to secure a semifinal berth.
Cole Makar and Jake Theis led the Bandits with a goal and an assist apiece. Conner Jean, Nathan Plessis, Nic Hamre, Nick Prkusic, David D'Agostino and Ty Mappin supplied the rest of the offence.
Chris Janzen started for Trenton but was pulled after turning aside 23-of-27 shots in 33 minutes. Elliot Gerth went the rest of the way and made 12 saves.
Preliminary round play continues through Thursday with the semifinals on Saturday and championship game Sunday.
