FedNor Media Release

Greenstone, ON –  FedNor has confirmed an investment for the Longlac Sportsplex.

The Government of Canada's $100,000 investment in the Longlac Sportsplex, located in the Municipality of Greenstone, will help the community correct problems associated with the building's leaking roof.

The funding will assist in repairing a critical portion of the structure, and will ensure that the roof is structurally sound so that the facility remains viable and open.

The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Status of Women and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Superior North, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program investment.

The Sportsplex, which houses an arena and curling rink, is heavily used by a variety of sports clubs. In addition, it is the only facility in the community that has the capacity to host large trade shows, entertainment events and community celebrations.

The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) funding, delivered in Northern Ontario through FedNor, is part of the Government of Canada's coordinated approach to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

These investments across Canada will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities, and celebrate Canada's rich heritage and history.
