Fire marshal estimates damage in Grimsby, Ont., fire at $2M

GRIMSBY, Ont. — The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office estimates the damage from a massive fire in downtown Grimsby, Ont., to be around $2 million. The blaze broke out in the apartment above a hair salon on Thursday afternoon.

GRIMSBY, Ont. — The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office estimates the damage from a massive fire in downtown Grimsby, Ont., to be around $2 million.

The blaze broke out in the apartment above a hair salon on Thursday afternoon.

Experts will be brought in to determine if the structure will have to come down.

The fire burned for close to six hours as firefighters from Grimsby, West Lincoln and Lincoln worked control the blaze.

No injuries have been reported and two dogs were rescued from the building.

There is still no word on the cause.
