TORONTO — GO Transit service between two stations in the Toronto area was suspended for nearly two hours after a person was struck and killed by a train.

Metrolinx spokesperson Vanessa Barrasa says the service was told about the fatality just before 11 a.m. Saturday.

Trains were halted between Port Credit and Long Branch GO stations.

Barrasa says the Toronto Transit Commission and Mississauga bus services were running shuttles between both stations.

The Lakeshore West line fully re-opened shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday, but trains continued to run with some delays.

The age and sex of the person killed has not been released.
