HAMILTON — A Brampton man has been charged in connection with Hamilton's first homicide case of 2017.

Police say officers responding to a disturbance call at an east-end residence Saturday found 40-year-old Melvin Jn'Marie suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Jn'Marie was later pronounced dead at Hamilton General Hospital.

Police haven't released the cause of death, but say the incident that led to his death "started as a minor altercation" and "quickly escalated."

They say 30-year-old Antonio Sedano Charles was arrested Sunday evening and charged with second degree murder.

Charles is scheduled to appear in Hamilton court later today.
