COBOURG, Ont. — Mat Robson stopped all 21 shots he faced as the Penticton Vees downed the Trenton Golden Hawks 4-0 in preliminary-round play at the RBC Cup on Wednesday.
The loss eliminated Trenton (0-3-1) from the Canadian junior-A hockey championship and ensured the Vees a spot in the semifinals alongside the host Cobourg Cougars and Brooks Bandits. Seeding will be determined after Thursday's last round-robin game.
Nicholas Jones had a goal and two assists to pace Penticton (2-0-1). Ty Amonte, Massimo Rizzo and Grant Cruikshank also scored.
Penticton finished with a 32-21 advantage in shots on goal and had nine power plays
