Texas woman, 55, dies after kayak gets caught in rapids on Ottawa River

RENFREW, Ont. — Provincial police have released the name of a 55-year-old Texas woman who died during a kayaking mishap in the Ottawa River.

RENFREW, Ont. — Provincial police have released the name of a 55-year-old Texas woman who died during a kayaking mishap in the Ottawa River.

Lynn Bartholomew of Dallas was staying at Wilderness Tours and kayaking with a group on Tuesday morning when she was last seen getting out of her kayak after going through a set of rapids.

Police initially said in a news release that the woman had died after being ejected from her kayak.

Bystanders had performed CPR until Bartholomew was brought to paramedics who took her to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police and the Coroner's Office continue to investigate but do not suspect foul play.

A post mortem examination has been scheduled for Thursday.
