Woman using a walker struck and killed by pickup on Toronto street

TORONTO — A woman who was crossing a street while using a walker is dead after being struck by a pickup truck in east-end Toronto. The 86-year-old woman was attempting to cross Broadview Avenue, north of Mortimer Avenue at about 8 p.m.

The 86-year-old woman was attempting to cross Broadview Avenue, north of Mortimer Avenue at about 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police say she was struck by a pickup driven by a 54-year-old man.

A police spokesman said Thursday she was not at a marked crossing.

The was taken to hospital where she died of her injuries.
