A group of compassionate volunteers has united under the Empties for Paws - Thunder Bay initiative to make a collective impact on the lives of animals in need.

Empties for Paws Canada, the parent organization, encourages volunteers across the country to raise money for animal shelters by collecting and recycling empty liquor, beer, and wine containers.

Prior to 2020, Thunder Bay had a similar initiative called Recycle for Rescue, which collected pop and beer cans to raise funds for local rescues. Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances, Recycle for Rescue had to close its doors.

Recognizing the void left by Recycle for Rescue, Empties for Paws - Thunder Bay was formed to continue this vital service.

Empties for Paws - Thunder Bay works closely with about 12 different animal rescues in the region, from Northern Critters in Need to Thunderbird Raptor Rescue, ensuring that every dollar raised goes directly to those who need it most.

These rescues are comprised of volunteers who work to save and care for animals in need, providing them with food, shelter, veterinary attention, and love.

Making a difference is easy with Empties for Paws. Simply collect your empty liquor, beer, and wine containers and drop them off at 430 Francis Street East in Westfort or 2093 Hwy 591 in Gorham.

For those interested in volunteering or providing an additional drop-off location at their home, business, or camp, please contact Empties for Paws - Thunder Bay through Messenger on their Facebook page.

Their online presence is a great resource as they work with many animal rescues in the region. Empties for Paws social media features events and fundraisers from multiple local rescues to help people stay updated on news and rescue needs in the area.

By supporting Empties for Paws - Thunder Bay, you are directly contributing to the well-being of countless animals in need. Every empty container collected turns into much-needed funds that provide food, shelter, and veterinary care, giving these animals a chance to live a better life.
