MANKATO, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Border Cats three-game winning streak came to a crashing halt Tuesday night in Mankato, Minn.
The host MoonDogs took a 2-0 lead in the opening inning and never looked back, going on to trounce the road-weary Border Cats 10-2.
Caleb Wulf drove in three runs and leadoff hitter Josey Williamson had a pair of RBIs to lead the Mankato attack.
Jackson Irwin got the start for Thunder Bay and allowed two runs on a hit and four walks before hitting the showers to start the third.
The bullpen couldn’t hold the first-place MoonDogs (12-7) at bay.
Jabe Schlehuber was tagged for four runs over two innings of work, Grant Faris gave up three more in 2.2 innings.
Dylan Snead went 2-for-5 with an RBI for Thunder Bay and newcomer Jacob Steinberg had a 3-for-4 night, driving in the Cats other run.
Thunder Bay (7-12) and Mankato wrap up their two-game set on Wednesday. The Border Cats return home for a two-night doubleheader on Thursday against the Willmar Stingers.
