DRYDEN, Ont. - Open Roads Public School’s Fine Arts Program will be hosting their exhibit titled “This is Us” at the Dryden and District Museum, which opens to the public on Thursday, March 8.

Curated by students in Open Roads Public School’s Fine Arts Program, “This is Us” includes artwork of local landscapes, reflects the Grandfather teachings of Ojibway culture, self-portraits, and other works of art that reflect the students’ lives, experiences and interests.

“This is my second year as Curator for the Open Roads Fine Arts Program’s Exhibit at the Museum, and I enjoy working with teaching staff and the students to display their art,” said cultural and tourism coordinator, Bethany Waite.

“The members of the Museum Advisory Board are looking forward to the opening of this new exhibit. The students of Open Roads always provide us with such creative pieces of art, and it will be interesting to see how they have interpreted the theme of ‘This is Us’”, said Dryden and District Museum advisory board chair, Pat Rigey.

The Fine Arts Program (Grades 6-8) will be displaying a variety of mediums of art for the exhibit, such as monochromatic paintings, sculptures, mandalas, mixed media drawings, wood burning and plate painting in the style of Reggie Laurent.

There will be a formal opening of the exhibit on March 8 at the Dryden & District Museum, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the exhibit being displayed until Thursday, April 12. Admission into the Museum is $3 for adults, and free for museum members and children.
