THUNDER BAY -- It has been nine months since Team Giant has last competed. The team welcomed many new young bright stars to their roster this year to accompany their already existing successful team.  The first competition for their 2018/2019 season was a big one. The Peppermint Twist invitations host 1,500 gymnasts ranging from levels JO 6-10 and Elite as well as Xcel all levels.  Giant Gymnastics brought 34 gymnasts across the border to show their best routines.

Athletes in the level 6 category set the bar very high for the remainder of the season. As many of these level 6’s was competing in this as a new level, it was astounding to be rewarded the First Place Team in the whole competition. The Xcel Silver girls were all brand new to the competitive team as well as to competing and did so well. They held their composure and smiled their way to Third Place team, we are so proud of them.

Team Giant had many other standout performances with Cara Medwid, Maiah Fonso, Emily Agostino and Piper Plavins all taking a top two finish in their respective age category. Grace Gaudino was new to Level 8 and placed top five in her age category as well as Grace Porter completed a new level and was congratulated for her performance with a three top three finishes and a 2nd place overall.

Team Giant set the bar quite high for the remainder of the season in just the first competition of five for the season! We are so excited to see what this year has in store; next, stop California Grand.
