THUNDER BAY – Fashion icon and long-time Canadian television personality Jeanne Beker will be the guest speaker at this year’s Tbaytel Luncheon of Hope.

The event is scheduled for Oct. 17.

Beker, 73, helped launch City TV’s ground-breaking show, The New Music, in 1979, had a brief stint on MuchMusic when the station launched, but is best known for her 27-year run on Fashion Television.

She had her own fashion line with Eaton’s and Sears, has released a line of footwear and has been a judge on the reality show, Canada’s Next Top Model. Beker has been the style editor at The Shopping Channel since 2015.

A member of the Order of Canada, Beker will share her cancer journey with those in attendance at the Luncheon of Hope.

“It’s going to be a truly special afternoon. A chance to connect, reflect, and be inspired by a woman whose voice and style have shaped Canadian media and culture for decades,” said Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation events manager Haley Werbowetski.

Guests at the even will get Beker’s keynote address, a pop-up coffee shop by Crush Coffee, Bling Blitz and a chance to win a pair of diamond earrings, and a travel blitz, featuring a round-trip flight to any regular scheduled and marketed WestJet destination.

The event takes place at the Superior Inn Hotel and Conference Centre, beginning with a 90-minute symposium starting at 11:30 a.m. and the three-course luncheon lasting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Attendees are also welcome to submit questions for an intimate fireside chat with Beker.
