No new COVID-19 cases reported for second day

Active cases remain at six, lowest point in months, as Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports no new cases.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported no new COVID-19 cases for a second straight day, with active cases remaining in single digits.

Active cases in the district stayed steady at six, the lowest level since there was a single active case on Nov. 1.

Two district residents were in hospital with the virus, with neither admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, according to the TBDHU.

The health unit hasn’t reported more than three new cases in a single day since June 16.

As of Saturday, 75.5 per cent of those 12 and older had received at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with the district crossing the 150,000 dose mark.

The agency has reported a total of 3,337 confirmed cases since the pandemic began. Of those, six were active and 3,267 were considered resolved, while the virus was a contributing or underlying cause of 64 deaths in the district.
