Nomination:
Ron Kresack first came to Northwood Hockey in 1990 when his oldest son Michael began playing hockey.
He served as the team manager for the Beavers that first year. He recalls having cases of frozen juice in the trunk of his car for the entire winter.
The next season saw him behind the bench as an assistant coach.
A season of coaching and he realized he was spoiling Michael's fun at games.
He got involved in the administration of the league first as the statistician, then secretary and finally became president in 1995.
Ron has a heart of gold for all the time he has put in. Thank you.
Nomination:
I am writing this as a secondary to a nomination for Ron Kresack.
I feel there is so much more to be said about this man. For years on top of being a dad, husband and grandpa, he has been on the executive (usually as president) for Northwood Hockey.
Ron spends hours getting ice, working with the city and most of all countless hours ensuring the league has parity for fun at all levels with equal competition.
Ron attends all games, in Northwood and for the past number of years also doubled in the Lakehead Minor Hockey League. Ron was not only the statistician and the guy who tracked every single statistic but also emailed about suspensions.
When we lost the ice scheduler part way through, Ron grabbed that and pulled it out of the fire and worked with what he had and the member organizations to ensure the schedule played out accordingly.
Ron is a volunteer that always puts his best foot forward, and tirelessly works for what is best for the children/participants. Ron is looked to by many people for his experience and wisdom as he continues to contribute year after year. The attributes learned from players, coaches, officials in the Northwood Hockey League show no limits, as two alumni ran for seats on city council this year.
Ron always stands up for things that will make the sport of hockey better and as if that is not enough, he also has just as much effort for little league baseball in Thunder Bay. If there is an individual who deserves to be recognized, it is Ron Kresack.
