Holiday Hero nominee: Troy Way

I would like to nominate Troy Way the owner of Local Dog Rescue. Troy has been rescuing and advocating for animals in our city longer than anyone else I know and yet is still unknown to so many.

Nomination:

I would like to nominate Troy Way the owner of Local Dog Rescue.

Troy has been rescuing and advocating for animals in our city longer than anyone else I know and yet is still unknown to so many.

He's a humble man who has dedicated most of his life (and money) to help animals in need and rarely asks for help.

If there is one person who could use a helping hand I know he would surely appreciate it.

Nomination:

I would like to nominate Troy way. He is a kind-hearted soul who loves and lives for his dogs. He is always willing to help a dog in need. He’s been around for a long time, but doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.

He helped me when I needed him. He helped me save my dog. Who was accused of being a Pitbull, and was to be euthanized. He fought and fought for us and we won. My dog is safe and loving out his senior years filled with love. I don’t think he realizes how much that meant to me.

He deserves this win for his pups.

Nomination:

I am nominating Troy Way for a Holiday Hero finalist as he is a voice for the voiceless.

He fights for the underdog, literally, by taking in the dogs that are overlooked by many of us because of their size or behaviours.

He works with them, gives them a loving home, and treats them with the respect that all animals deserve.

He has given up a lot of things in his life for the sake of his cause and he is a true hero in my eyes.

Nomination:

I would like to nominate Troy Way of local dog rescue in Thunder Bay as a hometown hero. I adopted my sweet sassy girl Josey from him in 1998 when she was only eight weeks old and was going to be turned over to the pound where she probably would have been euthanized. If not for Troy's efforts she and her seven littermates would probably not have had the opportunity to live the long and happy lives I hope they all did. Josey lived to be sixteen years old and passed away in 2014 of old age. She went peacefully in her sleep and Troy even came to say goodbye to her before she passed. She hadn't seen him in a few years but remembered him as if she had just seen him yesterday. He is one of those rare people who are able to bond with animals in a way that most of us could only hope to and its amazing thing to witness. I am so proud of him for his continued dedication after all of these years and for setting high standards in animal care for other rescues and pet owners to follow.
