Four weeks from now, Christmas will be but a memory.
Between now and then, most of us will join the hustle and bustle at the local malls, shopping until our credit cards hurt.
But how many of us will take the time – and more importantly, speak with our wallets – to remember the less fortunate among us.
Christmas is a time of giving and there are plenty out there who need our help.
The United Way, for example, at last count, was well short of its $2.6-million fundraising goal.
The Salavation Army last week launched its own $175,000 campaign, while earlier this month, Toys for Tots set out to collect their annual $150,000 to purchase gifts for children in need.
On Friday Christmas Cheer will begin its annual drive, hoping to collect enough money to ensure families in need have a hamper of groceries to get them through the holidays.
There are countless others, all with similar goals.
While you’re out shopping, rather than buying that extra gift for a loved one, please consider making a donation to any one – or all – of these charities to make someone’s Christmas a happier occasion.
Your loved one will never miss the gift they never got.?For the family you help, the gift is priceless.
