To the editor:
On Monday, Kitty Kare began competing for Aviva Community Fund’s $1-million challenge to build their greatly needed cat sanctuary.
Kitty Kare is now into the final round in the Aviva Community Fund competition for funds to build our feline sanctuary.
We didn't make it into the semi- finals but we still have a chance, all we need is your vote.
Please continue voting every day. Imagine, with your help voting daily we may win some funds and it won't cost you a cent – just a click of your mouse.?It's exciting to watch the daily totals.
Kitty Kare is the only feline rescue in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Through Kitty Kare, the lives of 200 cats have been saved in Year One of operation. Cats that would ordinarily be euthanized are removed from the city shelter and placed in foster homes.
Cats that require treatment receive it. Cats are spayed or neutered and when cats or kittens are ready, they are put up for adoption.
Thunder Bay has an overpopulation of cats. Approximately 1,500 of these cats and kittens are brought to Animal Services yearly: approximately 1,200 are euthanized.
It is heartwrenching to see the hundreds of innocent faces of these abandoned cats and kittens being taken away to be killed.
With a cat sanctuary, Kitty Kare will have a place to shelter more cats that come to us from Animal Services.
Kitty Kare will not have to depend on the number of foster homes available, which currently determines the number of cats and kittens we can rescue.
For the community, the Sanctuary will be a special place where the citizens of Thunder Bay can share their passion by visiting, volunteering and/or adopting a rescued cat.
Show Canada that Thunder Bay truly has a giant heart and vote. It won’t cost you a cent. Just a click of your mouse and you can help build the Sanctuary.
