LETTER: At a loss

To whom this may concern, My name is Amber and I have been one of those that have been affected by the flood. I find myself luckier than most due to only having had a few inches in my basement, rather than feet like some.

To whom this may concern, My name is Amber and I have been one of those that have been affected by the flood.

I find myself luckier than most due to only having had a few inches in my basement, rather than feet like some. However, I am submitting this letter in hopes of making it public on the way I have been treated by a very prominent Thunder Bay company.

I have not had hot water since in a week. My water heater is a rental through reliance, I informed them of the issue and they stated that they would not come into the home until my contractors had removed their drying equipment.

Reliance finally showed up yesterday, I was informed it would be a $90 + HST fee for this. I was able to understand that as I just wanted hot water again. This man came into my house, he flashed his flashlight over the unit briefly and told me that I need a new one. I was informed that they would bring me a new water heater later in the week, but that since I own my furnace I should take advantage of their new "flood" promotion. In other words, Reliance showed up for less than 5 mins for a sales pitch and charged me $90.

I am at a loss that they are taking advantage of flood victims in this way. While talking with neighbours I have heard that they have been doing this to others and I am not the only one.

I think that the people of Thunder Bay needs to realize what is happening so that they can protect themselves!!!

Sincerely,

Amber Griffiths, Thunder Bay
