LETTER: Battle of Britain a success

It is with great humility and appreciation that I and other military say a huge ‘thank you’ to all who made the Battle of Britain remembrance so successful during the Sunday ceremony at the airport.

It is with great humility and appreciation that I and other military say a huge ‘thank you’ to all who made the Battle of Britain remembrance so successful during the Sunday ceremony at the airport.

We all took part in remembering the airmen of the Second World War, who gave their lives for you and me.

A special thank you to all the air cadets wearing their uniforms so proudly and making all of us proud of them, too.

Plus my personal thanks to the top notch gentlemen, flight Sgt. Jeremy McCubbin of the cadet squad, who stood at attention beside me and held my 90-year-old arm to assist me in the honour I had to place a wreath on behalf of R.C.A.F. veterans.

Thanks to Roy Lamore of Branch No. 5 Legion who makes sure each memorial statue is respected and fully used to remember our fallen on various occasions.

Last but not least, our faithful citizens who respond with their presence to make the event “to remember” fully successful. The military could not do this without your presence there.
