To the editor:

These bike lanes are a disaster to traffic flow, there is no thought whatsoever going into their layout, it is obvious that active transportation co-ordinator Adam Krupper has no concept of traffic flow and is simply catering to the convenience of a handful of his cycling buddies.

Instead of dismissing my concerns with an arrogant, patronizing reply, perhaps Mr Krupper could explain why there is a parking lane on Victoria Avenue when it is totally un-needed? From Riverview Drive to Franklin Street is all residential, everyone has a driveway, so why the parking lane?

The only answer that makes any sense is that Krupper and city council were too arrogant to listen when they were told the road wasn’t wide enough, just like they don’t listen when they are told of the problems the layout created.

All they have to do to fix it is get rid of the parking lane from Waterloo to Riverview, four-lane it between Waterloo and Edward, but I guess we have to wait until someone gets killed in that suicide squeeze at Waterloo and Victoria before anything is done, and it will likely have to be someone important, like one of Mr Krupper’s family, not some peasant like me.
