Letter: Centre a waste?

In a perfectly balanced city, it would be nice to have a facility for everyone's interest.

I personally think a science centre where students from all grades from around our region would benefit from the educational  experience  and in turn, would provide a huge, long-term return on our investment.

A north ward multiplex would be nice for a few for awhile I suppose, and would provide the incentive for a hotelier to commit  but shouldn't we be very concerned about our city being the major developer of building tax-funded, mega-sized recreational projects?

Residents might spend their entertainment dollars at these facilities, while very few local taxpayers will be able to earn a living, other than in the short-term construction of these projects. But we will all be paying higher taxes because of them one way or the other.

I guess it's all about our town’s appointed administration and our elected council’s priorities regarding the spending of our tax dollars.

It will be interesting to see what they have in store for us next.
