To the editor:
I think you should re-check your calculations cause HST is along more than an extra $800 a year (Struggling with HST, Feb. 7, 2011).
My hydro bill has never been over $400 and this month my hydro bill was $638.79. How the heck is the average person supposed to be able to pay this? We know politicians have no problem paying their utilities cause we pay you all really well, but this is getting ridiculous.
There is no point in owning a home in this day and age because whatever your monthly mortgage payment is you can guarantee your utilities are double.Those are only the mandatory utilities. I don't even have cable or a home phone. You people are killing the working-class people in this country. Maybe that's the idea?
