LETTER: City spending money to chase rainbows

I wonder why nobody foresaw the so-called demise of the conservatory or the Chippewa Park roller coaster and started to look at replacing them years ago?

I am sure that matching funding may have been available to construct a replacement for the sorely neglected Centennial Conservatory, yet the minders of the municipal purse strings have not seen fit to ask about it.

The roller coaster is now a thing of the past, but why did someone not see this day coming years ago?

Meanwhile, city administration is spending piles and piles of cash on justifying the construction of a $100-million event centre.

No money for maintaining things we already have, but lots of money for chasing rainbows.
