Why did tbnewswatch not allow for comments on it’s online story “Murder case goes cold after year after original suspect freed,” Thursday, May 16, 2013. For people who do not know the story, here is a synopsis.

An individual in 2010,was originally charged with second-degree murder after an investigation by the CIB, not the bank, but the Criminal Investigative Branch of the Thunder Bay Police Service.

After this individual spent two years in jail, the Crown decided to stay the charges unless more evidence was found within a year, to have a reasonable chance of conviction. It has been a year and apparently there is no new evidence.

So to read that police spokesperson Chris Adams say that the lack of a trial or a conviction is “due to a court process, which has nothing to do with policing,” makes me wonder if there is any integrity in the police service.

Pray tell, Mr.Adams whose job is it to collect evidence? Hopefully the accused individual, who had to live this nightmare will seek compensation from the CIB.

Henry Wojak,
Thunder?Bay
