To the editor:
So I’ve been reading quite a bit in the news lately and I’d just like to point out how bad the crime is getting in Thunder Bay.
It’s one thing after another, whether it be someone’s house getting broken into, or someone getting murdered. I can think back 10 years and there wasn’t nearly as much crime.
I’m 19 years old and I’m afraid to be outside past a certain time. How sad is that? I remember being a kid playing outside until dark when my parents forced me to come in the house, now I wouldn’t dream of being outside past 10 p.m. in my neighborhood.
Something needs to be done to fix all of these problems that are arising in this town, before something even worse happens. My heart goes out to all the people who have had these terrible things happen to them. I couldn’t imagine something like that happening to my family.
I think it’s utterly inexcusable that nothing has been done to at least try and bring the crime down in this town. There is no reason at all why these things keep happening. I would like to think other people would agree with me as well.
There aren’t many places around Thunder Bay anymore where you can actually go outside and feel safe. It hurts me to see all these things happening in this beautiful town I call home.
