LETTER: Discipline, parenting prevents drunk joy-rides

This letter is going to be short and sweet. When I was younger, we never, ever would have even thought about doing something so stupid as that (Teen driver charged after flipping father’s truck).

This letter is going to be short and sweet.

When I was younger, we never, ever would have even thought about doing something so stupid as that (Teen driver charged after flipping father’s truck).

Why?

Because as fun and tempting as a drunken joy-ride might seem at the time, the knowledge that our parents would discipline us up and down was stronger than the momentary temptation.

That is totally lacking today.

Trust me that no “time-out” is ever going to overtake certain temptations, if any.
