To the editor:

I was disgusted to read in last week’s edition of the Source that the city has decided to spent $904K of taxpayers money on a pair of bent poles being passed off as art.

What a waste of money! What was  council thinking when they approved this expenditure and who came up with the idea in the first place.

If, as Pugh says, art is supposed to make you think (I’m paraphrasing) then I suggest that council buy more artwork and hang it in the council chambers where it would do more good instead of putting it at the waterfront.

Like Mayor Hobbs I vote for the trash compactors. We are going to need the compactors anyway when its time for this installation of art to be compacted and put to rest with that lovely expensive pile of rocks from the airport now gathering dust or moss at Chippewa Park.
