To the editor:
I, too, have experience horrific incidences in the Dominican Republic and I refuse to ever go back.
I have been there four times in the past at different resorts and have been afraid for my safety. Some of the worst experiences were with the authorities, paying them off for trumped-up speeding tickets. I watched them shoot a native in the back on the beach in front of me; execution style; safety deposit boxes ransacked and staff held up at gunpoint, to name a few. I despise that country and will never return. The media talks about Mexico and yet I have never had problems there, other than in Acapulco, and will continue to travel to Mexico for vacation. The Mayan people are wonderful.
