LETTER: Doug Ford has not been good for Ontario

Suffice it to say that there are very few people or groups (other than loyal Conservatives and the wealthy) who Mr. Ford hasn't, in some way, managed to hurt, offend or ignore.
letter-to-the-editor

Dear Editor:

Those responsible can be proud of having elected to the office of Premier in this province one of the dumbest, most arrogant, narcissistic and dangerous fools to ever hold that office.

During his tenure, Doug Ford (Trump 2.0) has managed to attack, and all but destroy our public health care system, declare war on the environment, bully seniors, antagonize labour, and turn his back on the poor.

Most recently, he has pointed an accusatory finger at "immigrants" for a school shooting in Toronto, taking his cue from right-leaning extremists in the U.S.; this, and more, while rents, food and other essential costs continue to skyrocket, poverty is at an all-time high, "tent cities" are popping up everywhere as Mr. Ford's idea of an appropriate housing strategy, and Ontario's overall quality of life is tanking!

To list the litany of miseries imposed by this man would make this letter far too lengthy to print, and what would be the point when most Ontarians are living the nightmare? Suffice it to say that there are very few people or groups (other than loyal Conservatives and the wealthy) who Mr. Ford hasn't, in some way, managed to hurt, offend or ignore.

Doug Ford clearly doesn't care about any of that. What he does care about is spending taxpayer's money on personal frivolities such as 'vanity' T.V. ads.  What's up with those anyway?  If taxpayer dollars are, indeed, being used to fund them, isn't that illegal?

More to the point, I don't see any ads running in support of other provincial parties and I don't recall an election being called any time soon. Worse yet, Mr. Ford is now poised to spend anywhere up to one billion taxpayer dollars to ensure that beer makes its way onto the shelves of corner stores by the time B-B-Q season rolls around.  Lo and behold, these two things are not mutually exclusive.

Rumour has it that Mr. Ford is, in fact, hoping to call an early election next spring and coast to an easy win on an old campaign promise while riding "high in the polls" (according to him anyway).  And he would rather bankrupt the province than wait for an existing contract to expire in 2026 in order to make that happen.

This selfish jerk is riding high alright . . . on himself!  And I thought we couldn't do much worse than Mike Harris. Silly me. Should that spring election come to fruition, let's send Mr. Ford a message he isn't expecting!
