LETTER: Glad to see library working with Indigenous businesses

John Pateman applauds the library's plans to work with more Indigenous businesses and hopes to see a deepening of its partnership with Anishnabek Employment and Training Services.

It’s good to see that Thunder Bay Public Library is planning to build relationships with local organisations and buy goods and services from Indigenous businesses.

I hope that this includes deepening and extending the pioneering relationship with Anishnabek Employment and Training Services. This was the first partnership of its kind in the city between an Indigenous and a non-Indigenous organisation. It was a step towards truth, healing, reconciliation and decolonisation and it was of mutual benefit to both organisations.

It was a win-win-win for TBPL, AETS and race relations in a divided city. It is now time to deepen that relationship and take it to the next level.
