I?keep reading the comments in a variety of media sources with regard to the incredible price increases for Hydro.

Some have suggested their bills have doubled in the last few years. A review of my charges looked nothing like that so I decided to do a little homework.

Here is the information I found right from the Thunder Bay Hydro website, the company that charges for the electricity we use.

In 2007, Thunder Bay Hydro announced a 4.8 per cent decrease or about $6.60 for the average customer.
In 2008, they asked for a 3.5 per cent increase or about $3.77 on average.

In 2009, another increase of about $2 on average was requested and then in October of this year a 2.7 per cent increase or about $2.95 on average.

Using those posted figures that totals up to about a $1.12 increase. These average estimates provided by Thunder Bay Hydro figures are based on using 1,000 kilowatts of power a month. I?use less but obviously others use far more.

It is amazing to me the information that continues to appear. Those figures above are not mine; they come directly from the Thunder Bay Hydro media releases.

So, if people are paying that much, maybe it is time they started looking at why instead of trying to blame someone else.
