To the editor:?
In this letter I am encouraging young musicians to do some of their appearances at hospitals and care homes.
It is a rewarding thing to see the patients’ eyes light up and their whole demeanor change.
I started my Smokey Island Band approximately 20 years ago and have entertained approximately 1,800 times, about 60 per cent of them at seniors homes and hospitals.
At 84 years, I have had to reduce my involvement, but I will still carry on at food bank gigs, charities, etc. for the immediate future and will enjoy every time we play.
