Letter: NDP misfired

To the editor, I thank Mr. Bruce Hyer and Mr. John Rafferty for their position and action on the long gun registry. They are simply voting the wishes of their constituents. Enlighten me.

To the editor,

I thank Mr. Bruce Hyer and Mr. John Rafferty for their position and action on the long gun registry. They are simply voting the wishes of their constituents.

Enlighten me. What is wrong with proper representation? If the NDP thinks disciplining these folks or leaving them out of the inner fold is an appropriate action, they are shooting themselves in the foot. But then what do they know about shooting?

The party’s head is buried far under the sand on this issue. It is time to figure out that it is these types of leaders that have helped put the NDP where they are today.

When they act in this fashion, they are showing their disregard for true democracy. In time, the average Canadian will stand up and be counted.

Unfortunately this tends to split the compassionate left balance we have attained and need in our government and society.

For the record, I am a outdoorsman, trade unionist, business person and a capitalist with a conscience. No myopic view here, just common sense.
