Regarding the glass at North End Rec Centre: The glass coming up has been an issue for years.

Growing up on an adjacent street, as kids we dug up all kinds of treasure from just below the surface. We dug up old bottles, nails, horseshoes and horse bones, both in the past and at present.

Any kind of excavation in this area will unearth a huge amount of glass. Now, again living on an adjacent street, we pick up pieces of glass every spring and over the course of the summer. I have never allowed my kids to wear sandals to play at North End because of the glass risk.

I don't know why the city has waited this long to acknowledge a problem that's been there for many years.
