To the editor:
I have never been an NDP supporter and don't expect to be, especially after seeing the reaction of its leader to John Rafferty and Bruce Hyer. I do, however, have a lot more respect for these two gentlemen for standing up for their constituents than I do for their leader. These men were elected to represent us, the voters, not the views of their leaders.
If more members of Parliament did this, more people might have respect for our system of government. The reaction of the NDP leadership to this issue sure has turned me off, as well as, I'm sure, many other people. No wonder people don't bother to vote any more when they don't have the MPs to convey the wishes of the electorate. Funny, I always thought that was the way it was supposed to work.
